Kanal Ibrahim Taiwo ya rasu a ranar sha uku 13 ga watan Fabrairu, a shekara ta alif dubu ɗaya da ɗari tara da saba'in da shida 1976 ya kasance Gwamnan Soja na Jihar Kwara daga watan Yulin shekarar alif dubu ɗaya da ɗari tara da saba'in da biyar 1975 zuwa watan Fabrairu shekarar alif dubu ɗaya da ɗari tara da saba'in da shida 1976 a lokacin mulkin soja na Janar Murtala Mohammed.Ya taimaka wajen kafa Jami'ar Ilorin,wacce aka kafa ta bisa doka ga watan Agusta, a shekara ta alif dubu ɗaya da ɗari tara da saba'in da biyar 1975.[1]

Mahaifin Taiwo dan asalin kakannin Ogbomosho ne. Ibrahim Taiwo ya yi karatu a Babbar Firamari ta Minna Makarantar tsakiya , Bida, kuma a takaice ya halarci Sakandirin, Okene don takardar shedar kammala makarantar sakandari.[2]

Yayin da kuma yake aikin soja, ya yi aiki a matsayin jami'in kula da harkokin sufuri, Jami'in da ke Ba da Umurnin 2 Brigade Sufuri a Apapa, Kyaftin Staff, Hedikwatar Sojoji, Legas, Jami'i mai kula da Birged 8, Asaba sannan kuma Jami'in kula da Kamfanin Sufuri, Kaduna. A lokacin yaƙin basasa, ya kasance shugaban sashen jigilar kayayyaki da kayayyaki na sojojin Najeriya.[3]

Wannan shi ne mafi girman abin da Nijeriya ta aikata na kisan kare dangi yayin yakin basasa.[5]

Murtala Mohammed shi ma an kashe shi. Janar Olusegun Obasanjo daga baya an nada shi a matsayin Shugaban kasa yana rike da sauran Gen. Murtala Mohammed's Chain of command in wuri.
