An haife shi a ranar 6 ga watan Yuni 1944 a Ibadan, babban birnin jihar Oyo, kudu maso yammacin Najeriya a cikin dangin Akangbe Adebowale, wanda manomi ne. [5]

Bayo ya samu satifiket ɗinsa na makarantar sakandire na zamani a Ibadan a shekarar 1958 daga nan ya wuce Kwalejin koyarwa ta St Peter inda ya sami takardar shaidar digiri na uku a fannin ilimi a shekarar 1961. Ya samu gurbin karatu a Kwalejin Baptist da ke Ede inda ya samu takardar shedar koyarwa ta Grade II.

Daga nan sai ya wuce Jami’ar Ibadan, inda ya sami digiri na farko a fannin fasaha (BA) a harshen Ingilishi a shekarar 1974, sannan ya yi hidimar matasa masu yi wa ƙasa hidima a shekarar 1975, a wannan shekarar ya shiga aikin Hukumar Ma’aikata ta Jihar Yamma. a matsayin jami'in ilimi kafin daga bisani ya zama malamin Turanci a Cibiyar Kasuwancin Gwamnati, Jihar Oyo. [6] Bayan shekaru uku (1978) Ya sami digiri na biyu a harshen turanci, a shekarar ya shiga Kwalejin Ilimi ta Jihar Oyo a matsayin Lecturer I, daga nan kuma aka wuce da shi Kwalejin Kimiyya da Fasaha ta Ibadan, inda ya kai matsayin Mataimakin Rector. tsakanin 1999 da 2003 ya samu digirin digirgir (Ph.d) a fannin adabi da turanci daga Jami’ar Ilorin a shekarar 1997.
