Tsarin kogin Ogunpa rafi ne mai tsari na uku tare da tsawon tasha na 21.5 kilometres (13.4 mi) da magudanar ruwa 73.3 square kilometres (28.3 sq mi) yana yankin gabacin Ibadan, Nigeria mai yawan jama'a. Birnin Ibadan a kudu maso yammacin Najeriya (7º23' N, 3º5' E) shine birni mafi girma a Afirka kudu da Sahara. An san kogin Ogunpa yana ɗauke da nau'ikan zooplankton guda 49.

An san ana zubar da sharar gida a kan hanyar Ogunpa. Wannan wani lokaci yana haifar da mummunan sakamako.

A cikin 1960, fiye da mazauna 1,000 sun zama marasa matsuguni a lokacin da Kogin Ogunpa ya wuce bankunansa. Sama da gidaje 500 ne suka lalace a shekarar 1963 lokacin da kogin ya sake mamaye birnin. A shekara ta 1978, bayanan hukuma sun tabbatar da cewa an tsamo gawarwakin mutane 32 daga rugujewar ambaliyar ruwa tare da lalata gidaje sama da 100.

Sai dai ambaliyar ta ranar 31 ga watan Agustan shekarar 1980 ta ba wa al’ummar Ogunpa suna na kasa da kasa. Bayan da aka shafe kusan sa'o'i 10 ana ruwan sama kamar da bakin kwarya sau hudu fiye da yadda aka yi a shekarar 1978, birnin Ibadan ya zama kango. Sama da gawarwaki 100 ne aka kwaso daga baraguzan gidaje da ababen hawa da ruwan ya tafi da su. Sama da mutane 200 ne suka mutu sannan sama da 50,000 sun rasa matsuguni. [1]

Aikin Channelization

A shekarar 1999, gwamnatin Najeriya ta karbi aikin "Channelisation Project" na Kogin Ogunpa. Tun daga 1977 sun fuskanci matsaloli da yawa. Gwamnatin jihar Oyo ce ta fara aiki. Don haka, an bayar da kwangilar Naira biliyan 10 don kammala aikin aikin Ogunpa.

Ko da yake an shirya kammala aikin a watan Fabrairun 2003, an ba da rahoton cewa wasu daga cikin ‘yan kwangilar da ke aiki a tashar sun yi watsi da wurin ba tare da kammalawa ba.
