Jereton Mariere
Samuel Jereton Mariere GCON (1907 - 9 ga Mayu 1971) shine gwamnan farko na tsohuwar Jahar Midwest ta Najeriya daga watan Fabrairu 1964 zuwa Janairu 1966. Ya kuma kasance shugaban jami'ar Legas na Akoka, Legas kuma shugaban farko na kungiyar Kiristoci ta Najeriya.[1]

A cikin shekarar 1935 an zaɓi Mariere a matsayin sakatare-janar na Urhobo Progressive Union, ƙungiyar da aka ƙirƙira a shekarar 1931 don bayyanawa da tsara alkibla ga mutanen Urhobo.[2] Daga baya suka kirkiro shi sarkin gargajiya, ya zama Olorogun na Evwreni a shekarar 1953. An zaɓe shi dan majalisar wakilan Najeriya mai wakiltar Urhobo ta gabas sannan daga baya ta tsakiya.[ana buƙatar hujja] jagora ne na tada zaune tsaye na samar da wani sabon yanki daga cikin tsohon yankin Yamma, wanda Yarabawa suka mamaye. An kirkiro yankin Mid-Western ne a shekara ta 1963 bayan taron majalisar wakilai inda dukkan bangarorin Urhobo suka kaɗa kuri'a gaba ɗaya, sannan daga bisani aka naɗa Mariere a matsayin gwamna na farko.[3] Bayan haka ne aka ba shi wasu mukamai guda biyu na manyan sarakuna, na Onisogene na Aboh a shekarar 1964 da na Ogifueze na Agbor a shekarar 1965.
Mariere ya mutu a wani hatsarin mota a shekarar 1971. An sanya wa wani ɗakin zama na ɗalibai sunansa a Jami’ar Legas, tare da wani mutum-mutumi mai girman rayuwa a kofar shiga.[4]
