Galibin hare-hare dai na faruwa ne a yankin arewacin Najeriya na musulmi, ko da yake an yi amfani da sunan kungiyar wajen daukar wasu bama-bamai, kamar harin da aka kai kan hedkwatar Majalisar Dinkin Duniya da kuma babban ginin 'yan sanda a babban birnin tarayya Abuja.[5] Tuni dai kungiyar da kanta ta balle, inda wasu ƴaƴan ƙungiyar Al-Qaida a yankin Magrib ta Islama, wasu kuma ke sa ran cimma yarjejeniya irin ta MEND ta kudancin Najeriya.

An kai harin ne a ranar 7 ga watan Agustan 2012, a cocin Deeper Life Bible da ke garin Otite, wanda ke wajen garin Okene a jihar Kogi. Wasu mutane uku dauke da bindigogi kirar AK-47, sun shiga cocin ne a daidai lokacin da ake shirin fara taron nazarin Littafi Mai Tsarki. Daya daga cikin mutanen ya kashe janareta da ke samar da hasken wuta a cocin. Sai sauran mutanen biyu suka yi harbi cikin duhu da bindigunsu. Mutane 15 ne aka kashe kai tsaye sannan wasu huɗu sun mutu daga baya sakamakon raunukan da suka samu. [6]

Babu wata kungiya da ta ɗauki alhakin harbin. Ko da yake a baya ƙungiyar Boko Haram ta kai hari kan majami'un Kirista, harin ya yi nisa a kudancin yankin fiye da yankin da kungiyar ta saba yi.[6]

Harbin Masallaci

A ranar 8 ga watan Agusta, wasu ƴan bindiga uku kan babura sun harbe sojoji biyu a wajen wani masallaci a Okene. An kuma kashe wani farar hula ta hanyar musayar wuta.[7] Sojojin sun yi sintiri ne a wajen masallacin kuma an yi musu luguden wuta a karshen wani taron addu'a.[8]

A yayin da aka kai hare-haren a kusa da Okene, da ke kan iyaka tsakanin Kudancin Najeriya mafi akasarin Kiristoci da kuma arewacin ƙasar Musulmi, an bayyana su a matsayin "damuwa" ga rikicin addini a Najeriya. An tura jami’an tsaro yankin sannan shugaban ‘yan sanda na kasa Mohammed Abubakar ya ba da umarnin sanya ido na tsawon sa’o’i 24 a duk coci-coci da masallatai da ke yankin tsakiyar jihar Kogi. Sojojin Najeriya da jami’an ƴan sanda sun yi ta nemo ‘yan bindigar cikin dare bayan harbe-harbe. [6]

Idris Wada, gwamnan jihar Kogi, ya sanar da kafa dokar hana fita daga gari zuwa wayewar gari a sassan jihar. Ya ce, “Masu aikata wannan aika-aika, miyagu ne, shaidanu ne, marasa tsoron Allah kuma ba su cancanci gurbi a cikin al’umma mai hankali ba. Amma ba za su rabu da shi ba a wannan lokacin. Ba za mu bar wata hanya da za mu iya kamo masu aikata ta’addanci da ta’addanci daga jiharmu ba.” Wada ya kuma ziyarci Ohinoyi na ƙabilar Ebira domin nuna rashin jin dadinsa da halin da yankinsa ke ciki.

Mazauna yankin Okene sun yi zargin cewa a cikin kwanaki bayan harbe-harben ƴan sanda sun gudanar da bincike gida-gida tare da lakada wa wasu fararen hula duka. An bayyana cewa wasu ƴan ƙasar sun tsere daga birnin. Kakakin ƴan sandan ya musanta cewa an samu tashin hankali.[9] An kawo wasu tsoffin ƴan siyasa daga yankin Okene Lokoja domin amsa tambayoyi dangane da hare-haren.

A ranar 9 ga watan Agusta, ƴan sanda sun sanar da cewa sun kama maza biyu da mace daya da ake zargi da aikata laifin harbin cocin. Rahotanni sun ce an kama mutanen uku ne biyo bayan musayar wuta da ‘yan sanda suka yi a garin Ibillo na jihar Edo.[10]
