Aliu Babatunde Fafunwa (Ya rayu daga 23 Satumba 1923 - zuwa 11 October 2010).[1] Shi ne Farfesan Ilimi na farko a Najeriya.[2] Ya kuma kasance masanin Ilimi a Najeriya, Malami kuma Tsohon Ministan Ilimi. A matsayinsa na Minista, ya kasance yana kula da babbar makarantar da ke Afirka.[3] An san shi da rubuce-rubucensa na farko kan buƙatar sake tantance tsarin ilimin tarihin mulkin mallaka da aka gada a Najeriya da kuma gabatar da manufofin al'adu masu dacewa, batutuwa da yarukan gida cikin tsarin, domin dacewa da tsarin cigaba da al'adun ƙasar. Hakanan shahararren masani ne akan Tarihin Tsare-Tsaren Ilimi a Najeriya.

An haife shi ne a ranar 23 ga Satumban shekarar 1923, a garin Isale Eko, Legas, Fafunwa ya yi karatun sakandare a makarantar CMS Grammar School, Lagos tsakanin 1937 da 1943. Ya sami B.Sc (Magna Cum Laude) a fannin Kimiyyar Zamani da Turanci a Kwalejin Bethune Cookman (yanzu Bethune-Cookman University, Florida, Amurka a shekarar 1950 kuma ya sami MA (Cum Laude) a fannin Gudanar da Ilimi a shekara ta 1955. Ya sami digirin digirgir a fannin Ilimi daga Jami'ar New York a shekarar 1958, ya zama na farko da ya samu karban Najeriya ya kuma yi karatun digirin digirgir a fannin Ilimi.

Ya fara aikinsa a shekarar 1961 a Jami'ar Nijeriya (UNN), Nsukka. A lokacin yaƙin basasar Najeriya, ya bar gabas ya koma Ife, ya yi koyarwa a Jami’ar Obafemi Awolowo.

Ya zama Farfesan Ilimi a shekarar 1966 kuma ya riƙe mukamin Dean, Malami da Shugaba, Sashin Ilimi a Jami’ar Nijeriya, Nsukka, UNN. Saboda hazakarsa da aiki tukuru, ya hau kan mukamin Mataimakin Mataimakin Shugaban Kwaleji a duka UNN da Jami'ar Ife (yanzu Obafemi Awolowo University). Ya kuma kasance Pro-Chancellor kuma Shugaban Majalisar Gudanarwa, Jami'ar Calabar. Ya kasance a lokuta da yawa, Shugaban, Kungiyar Malaman Ilimi a Afirka, Darakta, Majalisar Ƙasa da Ƙasa kan Ilimi don Koyarwa, Washington D C. Ya yi ritaya daga aikin koyarwa a shekarar 1978 don fara kwalejin koyawa ta farko a Najeriya a shekarar 1982 kuma ya kasance Ministan Ilimi tsakanin shekarar 1990 da 1992.
