Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen, GCON (an haife shi a ranar 22 ga watan Disamban 1950[1]) shi ne tsohon Alkalin Alkalan Najeriya.[2][3] Kafin ya shiga Kotun Koli, ya kasance alkali a Jihar Cross River kuma alƙali na Kotun ɗaukaka ƙara.

An haifi Walter Onnoghen a ranar 22 ga watan Disamban 1950 a garin Okurike, ƙaramar hukumar Biase ta jihar Cross Rivers.[1] Onnoghen ya yi karatun firamare a Presbyterian Primary School, garin Okurike tsakanin 1959 zuwa 1965. Daga nan ne ya zarce zuwa Accra a Ghana, inda ya samu takardar shedar karatun O-Level daga makarantar Odorgonno Senior High School tsakanin 1967 zuwa 1972, da WAEC (A-Levels) a Accra Academy tsakanin 1972 zuwa 1974. Ya sauke karatu a Jami'ar Ghana da ke Legon, Ghana a 1977 da kuma Makarantar Shari'a ta Najeriya da ke Legas a 1978.[1]

Kafin a naɗa shi a matsayin Alkalin Alƙalan Tarayya, ya yi aiki da ma’aikatar shari’a ta Ikeja, Legas, Jihar Ogun a tsakanin 1978 zuwa 1979, a matsayin Lauyan Jihar. Lokacin da ya bar ma'aikatar shari'a, ya tafi aiki tare a kamfanin lauyoyi na Effiom Ekong & Company, Calabar tsakanin 1979 - 1988. Daga baya ya zama Babban Abokin Hulɗa / Shugaban Chamber na Walter Onnoghen & Associates, Calabar daga lokacin 1988 - 1989.

Tsakanin shekarar 1989 – 1998, ya kasance Alkalin Babbar Kotun Jihar Kuros Ribas. A lokacin da yake Alƙalin Babbar Kotun Jihar Kuros Ribas an nada shi Shugaban Kotun Kolin Fashi da Makamai na Jihar Kuros Ribas sannan ya riƙe mukamin na tsawon shekaru 3 tsakanin 1990 – 1993. Wani lokaci a shekarar 1996 yana rike da mukamin Alkalin Babbar Kotun Jihar Kuros Ribas, sai aka nada shi Shugaban Hukumar Binciken Shari’a kan Rikicin Daliban Jami’ar Calabar da Obufa Esuk Orok, Calabar. A 1998, ya kasance Shugaban Kotun Kasa ta Banki, shiyyar Ibadan. A tsakanin shekarar 1992 zuwa 2004, ya yi aiki a matsayin Alƙalin babbar kotun jihar Ribas yayin da daga 1998 zuwa 2005 ya zama Alƙalin kotun ɗaukaka ƙara.

A watan Fabrairun 2016, Mai Shari’a Onnoghen ya jagoranci wani kwamitin mutum bakwai na Alƙalai na kotun ƙoli da suka yi nazari tare da tabbatar da hukuncin kisa na Chukwuemeka Ezeugo (aka Rev. Sarkin) Majalisar Sallar Kirista. A shekarar 2007, Mai shari’a Onnoghen ya taka rawa sosai a zaben 2007 wanda ya baiwa Marigayi Umaru Yar’adua damar zama shugaban tarayyar Najeriya. Ya yi wani hukunci da ya sabawa doka wanda da gaske ya soke zaben shugaban kasa. Matsayinsa duk da haka hukunci ne na tsiraru.

Bayan da mukaddashin shugaban kasa Farfesa Yemi Osinbajo ya zaɓe shi a matsayin alkalin alkalan kotun kolin Najeriya, majalisar dattawa ta tabbatar da shi a ranar 1 ga Maris 2017, kuma ta rantsar da shi a ranar 7 ga watan Maris, 2017.[4]

An fara jin karar Onnoghen ne a lokacin da Ƙungiyar kare Haƙƙin jama’a ta shigar da ƙara a kotun Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) tana zargin cewa ya mallaki “asusu guda-guda da aka samu ta hanyar ajiyar kuɗaɗe da kansa ya yi har zuwa ranar 10 ga watan Agustan 2016, wanda da alama ya samu. an gudanar da shi ta hanyar da ba ta dace da nuna gaskiya na kuɗi da kuma ka'idojin aiki na jami'an gwamnati ba."[5] An jera zarge-zargen a nan[permanent dead link] .

An fara shari’ar ne a ranar 14 ga watan Janairu, 2019 a kotun da’ar ma’aikata amma Onnoghen bai halarta ba.[6] Daga nan aka dage ci gaba da sauraron ƙarar zuwa mako mai zuwa saboda Onnoghen ya saba tsarin sammacin.[7] Za a ci gaba da sauraren ƙarar a ranar 22 ga watan Janairun 2019 amma bai sake zuwa kotu ba.[8] Bayan rashin dawowar sa, shugaban kasa Muhammadu Buhari ya dakatar da shi a ranar 26 ga watan Janairu tare da naɗa Tanko Ibrahim a matsayin alkalin alkalan Najeriya na rikon kwarya.[9]

Daga nan ne ‘yan sanda suka rufe ofishinsa[10] sannan kuma mambobin masu kare muradun kasa da lauyoyi sun yi zanga-zanga a kofar ofishin kungiyar lauyoyin Najeriya.[11][12][13] Dakatar da shi ya janyo ce-ce-ku-ce daga masu ruwa da tsaki na siyasa, da lauyoyi har ma da samun daukaka a duniya daga hukumomin duniya.[14] Atiku ya bayyana dakatarwar da aka yi masa a matsayin ‘An yi nisa da mulkin kama karya’.[15] Ministan yada labarai, Lai Mohammed, ya zargi waɗanda ke sukar shugaba Buhari kan dakatarwar da aka yi wa Onnoghen a matsayin munafukai.[16]

Kotun da’ar ma’aikata ta yanke wa Onnoghen hukunci a ranar Alhamis 18 ga Afrilu, 2019 saboda bayyana kadarorin karya,[18] an bayyana asusu na 5 ba Archived 2019-04-30 at the Wayback Machine kuma ya ƙasa yin lissafinsu. Hukumar CCT ta ce an dakatar da shi daga rike mukamin gwamnati na tsawon shekaru 10.[19][20] Shugaba Buhari ya karbi takardar murabus din Onoghen na son rai wanda zai fara aiki daga ranar 28 ga Mayu, 2019.[21]

Bayan nuna rashin yarda da amincewa da Buhari ya amince da Onoghen ya yi ritaya, hukumar shari’a ta kasa ta bayyana cewa murabus ɗin Onnoghen shine mafi alheri ga Najeriya.[22]
