Ta auri Umar ibn al-Khattab kafin shekara ta 616, kuma suna da 'ya'ya maza biyu, Zayd da Ubayd Allah .[2] Umar ya auri Zaynab bint Maz'un, wanda ta haifa masa 'ya'ya uku, [1]::204 da kuma Qurayba bint Abi Umayya, [3]::510 wanda bata da yara. Ba da daɗewa ba bayan Yarjejeniyar Hudaybiya a cikin shekara 628, annabi Muhammad(S.A.W) ya ba da umurni cewa an umarci Musulmai da su "kiyayi igiyoyin mata marasa imani". Saboda haka, Umar ya saki Umm Kulthum da Qurayba, kuma dukansu biyu suka koma Makka.[1]:204[3]:510[4]

Asali bai nuna tsari na auren Umm Kulthum na gaba ba. Ta auri Abu Jahm ibn Hudhayfa a Makka "yayinda dukansu biyu sun kasance masu bin addinai da yawa," watau, kafin Janairu na shekara 630.
