Sam Ukala Farfesa ne a fannin fasahar wasan kwaikwayo da wasan kwaikwayo a Jami'ar Jihar Delta, Abraka, Najeriya. Ukala ya kasance Farfesa a fannin wasan kwaikwayo da wasan kwaikwayo a wasu jami'o'in Najeriya, ciki har da Jami'ar Jihar Edo . A cikin 1993/94, a matsayinsa na ma'aikacin ilimi na Commonwealth, ya kuma yi bincike da koyarwa a Makarantar Turanci Workshop Theatre na Jami'ar Leeds a Burtaniya. A matsayinsa na mai ilimi, ya gabatar da ka'idar 'al'adance', dabi'ar kafa wasannin adabi a kan tarihi da al'adun 'yan asali da tsara su da aiwatar da su daidai da kyawawan abubuwan da aka tsara na tatsuniyoyi na Afirka.[3][4] Ya kasance Shugaban Kungiyar Marubuta ta Najeriya reshen Jihar Delta (ANA) 2021.[5][6]

Wasannin wasan kwaikwayo na Ukala da aka buga sun haɗa da Matar Bawa, Log in Your Eye, Akpakaland (wanda ya lashe kyautar ANA/ British Council Prize for Drama 1989), Break a Boil and Placenta of Death . Yakinsa na Iredi, 'rubutun jama'a', ya lashe lambar yabo ta 2014 ta Najeriya don adabi . Hakan ya samo asali ne daga juyin mulkin 1906 na Masarautar Owa (yanzu wani yanki na jihar Delta) na adawa da mulkin danniya na Burtaniya . Kamar yadda yake a cikin ɓangarorin da suka gabata, yana amfani da kawo sabuwar rayuwa ga adabin baka da kuma tsarin wasan kwaikwayo na jama'a. "Gaskiya mai gamsarwa na tarihi da almara..." Har ila yau, Ukala ya yi aiki tare da gidan wasan kwaikwayo na Birtaniya Doki da Bamboo Theatre a 1998/9 kuma tare da Bob Frith ya rubuta rubutun wasan kwaikwayo na gani Girbi na Ghosts, wanda ya ziyarci Birtaniya da Netherlands. Wannan yanki ne na gwaji don Ukala, wanda ya dogara ga rawa, kiɗa, da abubuwan gani masu ƙarfi maimakon kalmar magana. Farfesa Martin Banham, editan haɗin gwiwar gidan wasan kwaikwayo na Afirka: Mawallafin wasan kwaikwayo & Siyasa, ya ɗauki shi a matsayin "haɗin kai na fasaha tsakanin al'adu", da kuma 'mai ban mamaki, mai isa', misali na wasan kwaikwayo na siyasa. Ya ji cewa wasan ya cancanci samarwa a Afirka kuma, a ƙarshe, Sam Ukala ya ƙirƙiri sigar a Jami'ar Jihar Edo da ke Ekpoma. [7]

Al'adun gargajiya

Ukala ya kirkiro tsarin wasan kwaikwayo wanda ya fara aiki a cikin rubuce-rubucensa na ban mamaki. Ya kira wannan 'al'adance', kuma ya kara binciko manufar a cikin aikinsa na ilimi. 'Tsarin al'adun gargajiya' ya girma ne daga imaninsa game da wajabcin kawar da mulkin mallaka a cikin wasan kwaikwayo, da kuma sha'awar gano ƙa'idodin gargajiya na Afirka na kyau da daidaito mai ban mamaki. A cikin ginin wasan kwaikwayonsa ya zana al'adar baka ta Afirka. Musamman yana haɓaka abubuwa daga al'adar baka ta mutanen Ika (na yankin arewa maso yammacin jihar Delta a Najeriya). Wannan yana aiki a cikin nau'ikan ban mamaki na zamani. Lokacin a Leeds a cikin 1993/4 yana binciken shahararren wasan kwaikwayo na Ingilishi, wanda ya kai shi gano aikin wasan kwaikwayo na Doki da Bamboo a Lancashire. Aikinsu a zahiri ya yi nisa da zama wasan kwaikwayo na gargajiya, saboda ana amfani da nau'ikan wasan kwaikwayo na zamani, amma Ukala ya sami wahayi daga abin da ya gani a matsayin wahayi na tushen jama'a. A cikin 1995 Bob Frith, Doki da Bamboo wanda ya kafa kuma darekta, ya ba da shawarar haɗin gwiwa; Sam ya amince kuma wannan ya fara a watan Nuwamba 1998.
