Liptako yanki ne mai tarihi na yammacin Afirka. A yau ya fado a gabashin Burkina Faso, kudu maso yammacin Nijar da kuma wani karamin yanki na kudu maso gabashin tsakiyar Mali. Wani yanki mai tuddai wanda ya fara daga hannun dama na kogin Neja, galibi ana danganta Liptako da Masarautar Liptako, daular Fulani ta Fulani a farkon karni na 19, wacce Brahima Saidu ta kafa.[1] [2] Tare da Fula na makiyaya, babban tarihin Liptako sune Gourmantche, tsiraru a kowace al'ummai uku, da kuma Mossi da Songhai. Sauran sunan gama gari na yankin, Liptako-Gourma, nuni ne ga mutanen Gourmantche.

Liptako ta zamani, wanda mafi yawansu ya fada cikin larduna 10 zuwa 19 na Burkina Faso, tare da Sashen Tera na Nijar da Sashen Say, da kuma ƙananun sassan kasar Mali, tuddai ne kuma a sassan da babu yawan jama'a. A ƙarshen karni na 20, an gano zinari da sauran ma'adanai a nan, [4] wanda ya kai ga ƙirƙirar 1970 na Hukumar Liptako-Gourma: yankin yanki ya mayar da hankali kan inganta ma'adinai, makamashi, na'ura mai aiki da karfin ruwa, da albarkatun gona. Yankin da hukumar ta rufe ya shafi yanki 370,000 km², mafi girma fiye da Liptako mai tarihi, gami da larduna 19 na Burkina Faso, yankuna 4 na gudanarwa na Mali, da Yankuna biyu da al'ummar garuruwan Nijar. Manyan garuruwan Liptako sun hada da Diagourou, Téra a Nijar, da Dori, Koala da Aribinda a Burkina Faso. [5]
