Gita Ramjee
Gita Ramjee FRCPE (née Parekh; 8 Afrilu 1956 - 31 Maris 2020) masaniya ce a fannin kimiyar Ugandan-Afirka ta Kudu ne kuma mai bincike kan rigakafin cutar kanjamau. A cikin shekarar 2018, an ba ta lambar yabo ta 'Fitacciyar Masaniyar Kimiyyar Mata' daga Ƙungiyar Tarayyar Turai da Ƙasashe Masu tasowa na Ƙwararrun Gwaji na Clinical.[1] Ta mutu a Umhlanga, Durban, Afirka ta Kudu, daga cutar da COVID-19.[2]

gyara sasheAn haifi Gita Parekh a ranar 8 ga watan Afrilu 1956[3][4] kuma ta girma a Colonial Uganda kafin a kori danginta gudun hijira a ƙarƙashin Idi Amin a cikin shekarar 1970s.[4] Ta yi makarantar sakandare a Indiya kafin ta halarci Jami'ar Sunderland da ke Ingila. Ta kammala karatu a shekarar 1980 tare da BSc (Hons) a fannin ilmin sunadarai da physiology. Ta auri wani ɗalibi ɗan Afirka ta Kudu-Indiya, Praveen Ramjee, kuma ta koma Durban inda ta fara aiki a Sashen kula da lafiyar yara a Makarantar Kiwon Lafiya ta Jami'ar KwaZulu-Natal. Bayan ta haifi ‘ya’yanta maza biyu ta kammala karatun digirinta na biyu, sannan ta sami digiri na uku a shekarar 1994.[5]

gyara sasheBayan kammala karatun digirinta na uku a kan cututtukan koda na yara, Ramjee ta shiga Majalisar Binciken Kiwon Lafiya ta Afirka ta Kudu a matsayin masanin kimiyya.[5] Ta tashi cikin sauri ta cikin matsayi don jagorantar babbar ƙungiya ta Majalisar, Sashin Binciken Rigakafin HIV. Ta taimaka wajen faɗaɗa sashin daga ma'aikatan kimiyya 22 zuwa 350 kuma ta kasance muhimmiyar rawa wajen haɓaka sunanta a duniya.[5]
A lokacin mutuwarta, Ramjee ita ce Babbar Jami'iyyar Kimiyya a Cibiyar Aurum, kungiyar mai binciken cutar kanjamau/tarin fuka mai zaman kanta,[6] da kuma darektar Sashin Bincike na Rigakafin Rigakafi na Majalisar Binciken Kiwon Lafiya ta Afirka ta Kudu. Ta sami lambar yabo ta Rayuwa a Taron Ƙasa da Ƙasa na Microbicide a shekarar 2012. Ta kasance farfesa mai daraja a London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, the University of Washington in Seattle da Jami'ar Cape Town.[6] Ta kasance memba na wasu kwamitocin gida da na kasa da kasa da suka haɗa da Kwalejin Kimiyya na Afirka ta Kudu (ASSAF) da kuma Majalisar Ɗinkin Duniya ta Afirka ta Kudu (SANAC).[7]
Bincike
gyara sasheKwarewarta kan rigakafin cutar kanjamau da bincike na jiyya ya sa ta jagoranci faɗaɗa lokaci na phase I ta hanyar rigakafin rigakafi na kashi (phase III) da gwajin asibiti a cikin babban yankin Durban a matsayin Babbar Jami'iyyar Bincike na Clinical Trials.[7] Ramjee ta damu da cewa bai kamata a mai da hankali kan gwaje-gwajen asibiti kawai ba amma magani tare da ilimin rigakafin cutar kanjamau da kulawa. A wata hira da aka yi da ita, ta bayyana cewa, “Mata ne suka fi fama da cutar kanjamau a wannan yanki, kuma har yanzu da sauran rina a kaba don magance matsalolin lafiya a ƙasashe masu tasowa. Akwai buƙatar [daidaita] tsarin kula da rigakafin HIV wanda yakamata ya haɗa da kula da lafiyar haihuwa ga mata."[5] Ramjee na ɗaya daga cikin masana kimiyya na Afirka ta Kudu na farko da suka yi aiki kan haɓaka ƙananan ƙwayoyin cuta.[8]
Ta sami lambar yabo ta MRC Scientific Merit Award na shekarar 2017.[8]
A matsayinta na Malama, ta wallafa muƙaloli sama da 170 kuma ta kasance mai bita kuma editan mujallun kimiyya da yawa.[7]

Bayan dawowarta Afrika ta Kudu ba ta da lafiya kuma an kwantar da ita a asibiti. Ta mutu daga rikice-rikicen da suka shafi cutar COVID-19.[6]
David Mabuza, mataimakin shugaban ƙasar Afirka ta Kudu, ya jagoranci karramawar inda ya kira ta a matsayin " zakara a yaki da cutar kanjamau."[9] A matsayinsa na shugaban hukumar kanjamau ta Afirka ta Kudu, ya ce: "Rasuwar Farfesa Ramjee ta zo a matsayin babbar illa ga ɗaukacin fannin kiwon lafiya da yaki da cutar kanjamau a duniya." Salim Abdool Karim, darektan Cibiyar Nazarin Aids na Shirin Bincike a Afirka ta Kudu, ya yaba da aikin da take yi wa mata, yana mai cewa "Ta kasance kusan dukkanin manyan gwajin rigakafin cutar kanjamau akan microbicide… na mata."[8] Shugabar Cibiyar Nazarin Kiwon Lafiya ta Afirka ta Kudu, Glenda Gray, ta kuma ba da gudummawa ga aikinta "Ta yi ƙoƙarin magance duk yanayin yanayin da ke sa mata su kasance masu rauni, daga ilimin halittu zuwa siyasa."[8]
Cibiyar Aurum ta bayar da lambar yabo ta Gita Ramjee don tunawa da mata masana kimiyya a fannin rigakafin cutar HIV.[10]
