Kogin Oti yana da kusan kilomita 520 (323 mi), tsayi. Kogin yana cikin Benin da Burkina Faso, yana ratsawa ta Benin da Togo kuma ya haɗu da Kogin Volta a Ghana. Masu bautar ruwa a gabar hagu a Togo sun samo asali ne daga Dutsen Togo zuwa kudu. Ofaya daga cikin yankuna masu gabas sune Kogin Kara, wurin hada hadar yana kan iyakar Ghana-Togo, inda wani yankin ya haɗu daga kudu, Kogin Koumongou. Bakin Oti ya kasance akan Kogin Volta, amma yanzu yana malala zuwa tafkin Volta na Ghana.[1]

Kogin ya ratsa arewacin Togo a cikin kwari mai savannah mai kimanin kilomita 40 ko 50 (25 ko 31 mi fadi). A gefen iyakokin kogin akwai gandun dajin da ke ambaliya lokaci-lokaci. Lokacin rani anan yana farawa daga kusan Nuwamba zuwa Afrilu, tare da busasshiyar busasshiyar iska Harmattan tana hurawa daga arewa. A wannan lokaci na shekara kwararar kogin kadan ne. Dukansu Oti da Koumongou suna da filayen ruwa, kusan kilomita 10 da 4 (6.2 da 2.5 mi) fadi da bi. Wadannan ambaliyar suna yaduwa sosai a lokacin damina, amma a lokacin rani sun zama bushe, filayen ƙura, tare da tabkin lokaci-lokaci ko tabki a cikin ɓacin rai.
