Umaru Dahiru Tambuwal (an haife shi 12 ga watan Yuni shekara ta alif ɗari tara da hamsin da biyu 1952A.c) an zabe shi a matsayin Sanata mai wakiltar mazabar Sakkwato ta Kudu ta Jihar Sakkwato, a Najeriya, a karkashin jam’iyyar All Nigeria People Party (ANPP), inda ya fara aiki a ranar 29 ga watan Mayu shekarar 2003. An sake zabarsa a shekarar 2007 a matsayin mamba na Jam'iyyar PDP ta Jama'a.

Dahiru ya samu B.Sc. a fannin shari'a daga Jami'ar Ahmadu Bello da ke Zariya kuma ya zama lauya a fannin shari'a. Ya zama daraktan kamfanin, sannan a shekarar 1983 aka nada shi Kwamishina a jihar Sakkwato. An zabe shi memba na Taron Tsarin Mulki na Kasa a shekarar 1993 kuma an nada shi a cikin kwamitin tsara kundin tsarin mulki a shekarar 1999.[1]

Bayan sake komawa kujerarsa ta majalisar dattijai a shekarar 2007, an nada Dahiru zuwa kwamitoci kan Dokoki da Kasuwanci, Shari'a, 'Yancin Dan Adam & Maganganun Shari'a, Hukumar Zabe Mai Zaman Kanta, Lafiya da Jirgin Sama. A watan Fabrairun shekarar 2008, ya zama Shugaban Kungiyar Sanatocin Arewa. Ya maye gurbin Janar John Shagaya mai ritaya. [4] A cikin kimantawar tsaka-tsakin Sanatoci a cikin watan Mayu shekarar 2009, ThisDay ya lura cewa ya ɗauki nauyin doka don gyara Dokar Hukumar Kare Hakkin Dan-Adam ta Nationalasa, ta ɗauki nauyi ko ɗaukar nauyi guda biyar kuma ta ba da gudummawa ba da daɗewa ba yayin muhawara a cikin zaman.

A zaben kasa na 9 ga watan Afrilun shekarar 2011, Dahiru ya ci gaba da rike kujerar sa ta Sanatan Sokoto ta Kudu. Ya samu kuri'u 112,585, sai Muhammad Sani Dogondaji na jam'iyyar Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) wanda ya zo na biyu wanda ya samu kuri'u 36,682.[2]
