Silas Janfa an zaɓe shi a matsayin Sanata mai wakiltar mazaɓar Plateau ta Kudu a jihar Filato a Najeriya a farkon jamhuriya ta huɗu a Najeriya, inda ya tsaya takara a ƙarƙashin jam'iyyar PDP. Ya fara aiki a ranar 29 ga watan Mayun shekarar 1999.[1]

Janfa ya samu digirin digirgir a fannin sarrafa kuɗi.[2] Bayan ya hau kujerar majalisar dattawa a cikin watan Yunin shekarar 1999, an naɗa shi a kwamitocin kula da asusun jama’a, da ma’adanai (mataimakin shugaban ƙasa), sufurin jiragen sama, kasuwanci, kasuwanci da Neja Delta.[3] An naɗa shi mamba a kwamitin majalisar dattijai da aka kafa domin duba rahoton da ke cike da cece-kuce da kwamitin da Sanata Ibrahim Kuta ya jagoranta wanda ya tuhumi Sanatoci da dama da badaƙalar kuɗi.[4] Ya kasance ɗan takarar neman wakilcin gundumar sa ta Majalisar Dattawa karo na biyu a cikin shekara ta 2003, amma ya sha kaye a zaɓen fidda gwani a hannun Cosmas Niagwan.[2]

Janfa ya koma jam’iyyar Action Congress (AC), kuma ya tsaya takarar kujerar Sanatan Plateau ta Kudu a cikin shekarar 2007. John Shagaya ne ya lashe zaɓen, amma Janfa ya roƙi kotun zaɓe da ta soke sakamakon zaɓen da aka gudanar a ƙananan hukumomi uku daga cikin shida kacal.[5] Kotun ta soke zaɓen Shagaya, amma bayan ɗaukaka ƙara aka ayyana Shagaya a matsayin wanda ya lashe zaɓen.[6]
