Nakalembe ta girma a Kampala, Uganda. Mahaifinta makanikin mota ne mai koyar da kansa, kuma mahaifiyarta tana da kuma tana gudanar da gidan abinci a Makindye.[3]

Nakalembe ta shiga fannin kimiyyar muhalli ne kwatsam, saboda ta rasa kwas ɗin kimiyyar wasannin motsa jiki na farko lokacin da take shiga karatun digirinta na farko a jami'ar Makerere a farkon shekara ta 2002.[4] A shekarar 2007, ta sami digiri na farko a Kimiyyar Muhalli daga Jami'ar Makerere.[4][2]


Bayan karatun digiri na farko, ta sami guraben karatu don digiri na biyu a fannin ilimin ƙasa da injiniyanci na muhalli a Jami'ar Johns Hopkins. Ta sami digiri na biyu a shekarar 2009.[5][4][6]

Nakalembe ta samu Ph.D a fannin Kimiyyar Ƙasa a Jami'ar Maryland a ƙarƙashin kulawar Chris Justice. Binciken da ta yi na digirin digirgir na da nufin bayyana illar fari ga amfani da ƙasa da kuma rayuwar ‘yan Ugandan Arewa maso Gabashin ƙasar. Wannan shi ne mataki na farko na samar da tushen abin da ya dace na aikin ba da tallafin bala'i wanda ya tallafa wa gidaje sama da 75,000 a yankin tun daga farkon shekarar 2017 da kuma ceto albarkatun gwamnatin Uganda da za su kai ga taimakon gaggawa.[2][6][7]

Ita ce shugabar shirin Afirka a cikin shirin girbi na NASA kuma an santa da aikinta ta hanyar amfani da ilimin nesa (remote sensing) da fasahar koyon injin da ke tallafawa ci gaban aikin gona da samar da abinci a duk faɗin Afirka. Ta fara fahimtar nesa ta hanyar jiragen sama marasa matuka wajen binciken matsugunan 'yan gudun hijira da taswirar zaftarewar ƙasa a Uganda. Ta gudanar da bincike a cikin zurfin fahimtar fari, noma, da kuma jagorantar haɗin gwiwar lura da ƙasa a cikin sa ido kan aikin gona na ƙananan masu riƙe da noma a ƙasashe da yawa.[3]

Nakalembe tana shiryawa tare da jagorantar horo kan kayan aiki da bayanai na nesa, tana aiki tare da ma'aikatun ƙasa kan hanyoyin yanke shawara kan aikin gona, da kuma jagorantar tsare-tsare don hana illolin da ke haifar da gazawar amfanin gona.[5]

Ta karɓi lambar yabo ta Ƙarfafa Ƙwararrun Mutum na Farko a Ƙungiya a Duniya a shekara ta 2019.[6][8]

A cikin shekarar 2020, ta raba kyautar Abinci ta Afirka (AFP) tare da Dr. André Bationo daga Burkina Faso. Olusegun Obasanjo, shugaban kwamitin AFP ya bayyana cewa, "Muna bukatar 'yan Afirka masu kirkire-kirkire irin su Dr. Bationo da Dokta Nakalembe don nuna yuwuwar sabbin ilimi da fasaha tare da fasahohi masu amfani da ke taimakawa inganta darajar manoma. 'Yan Afirka."[9][10][11]

Ta kasance a shekarar 2020 UMD Research Excellence Honoree.[12] A cikin shekarar 2022, ta sami lambar yabo ta Golden Jubilee ta Uganda (farar hula). Shugaba Yoweri Museveni ne ya gabatar da ita ga iyayenta.[13][14]
