Olukoju ya sami digiri na farko (tare da Daraja ta Farko) daga Jami'ar Najeriya, Nsukka a watan Yuni 1980, da digiri na biyu da na uku a fannin tarihi daga Jami'ar Ibadan a shekarun 1982 da 1991 bi da bi. Daga shekarun 1984 zuwa 1987, Olukoju ya karantar a Jami'ar Jihar Ogun (yanzu Olabisi Onabanjo University ). A watan Satumba na shekarar 1987, ya shiga jami’ar Legas sashen nazarin tarihi da dabarun nazari. A cikin shekarar 1998, an naɗa Olukoju a matsayin babban farfesa a tarihi, kuma fitaccen malamin jami'a shekaru ashirin bayan haka. Ya yi aiki a matsayin shugaban sashin tarihi daga shekarun 2001 zuwa 2004, sannan kuma shugaban tsangayar fasaha daga shekarun 2005 zuwa 2009.[1][2] Ya kasance Babban Bako na DAAD Farfesa na Tarihin Tattalin Arziki a Jami'ar Bayreuth, Jamus daga watan Mayu zuwa Agusta 2022.[3]
