Alex Ibru (1 ga Maris 1945 - 20 Nuwamba 2011) wani dan kasuwa ne dan Najeriya, wanda ya kafa kuma ya buga jaridar The Guardian, wanda ya kasance Ministan Harkokin Cikin Gida daga shekara ta 1993 zuwa shekara 1995 a lokacin mulkin soja na Janar Sani Abacha.[1]

Alex Ibru ɗa ne ga Cif Janet Omotogor Ibru kuma ɗan’uwa ga Cif Michael Ibru, wanda ya kafa Ibungiyar Ibru. An haifi Ibru a ranar 1 ga watan Maris 1945 a Agbhara-Otor, a cikin jihar Delta ta yau. Ya halarci Makarantar Firamare ta Yaba Methodist (1951 - 1955), Ibadan Grammar School (1958 - 1960), Kwalejin Igbobi, Lagos (1960 - 1963) da Trent Polytechnic da ke Ingila (1967-1970), inda ya karanci Tattalin Arzikin Kasuwanci.

Ibru shi ne shugaban kamfanin Rutam Motors. A cikin 1983, ya sadu da manema labarai Stanley Mecebuh na jaridar Daily Times ta Najeriya, Dele Cole shi ma tsohon na wancan takarda da Segun Osoba, tsohon na Nigerian Herald. Tare da kudade na 55% daga Ibrus, sun fara The Guardian a 1983, tare da Alex Ibru a matsayin shugaba.

A ranar 2 ga watan Fabrairu 1996, an fesa motarsa da guba daga wasu mutane da ba a san su ba wadanda suka bi shi a cikin Peugeot mai zurfin-shuɗi. Duka Ibru da babban editan Femi Kusa an tafi da su Ingila don jinyar raunin da suka ji. Bayan mutuwar Abacha a 1998, an tuhumi Babban Jami’in Tsaronsa Hamza Al-Mustapha da wasu da yunkurin kisan kai.

Alex Ibru ya mutu ranar 20 ga watan Nuwamba 2011, yana da shekaru 66 a duniya[2]
