Sir Thomas Overbury (wanda aka yi baftisma a shekara ta 1581 - 14 ga Satumba 1613) mawaƙi ne kuma marubuci ɗan ƙasar Ingila, wanda kuma aka sani da kasancewarsa wanda aka yi masa kisan gilla wanda ya kai ga wata fitina. Wakarsa mai suna A Wife (wanda ake kira da Matar), wadda ta nuna kyawawan dabi’un da saurayi ya kamata ya bukaci mace, ta taka rawar gani sosai a al’amuran da suka sa aka kashe shi[1].

An haifi Thomas Overbury kusa da Ilmington a cikin Warwickshire, ɗan auren Nicholas Overbury, na Bourton-on-the-Hill, Gloucester, da Mary Palmer.[2] A cikin kaka na 1595 ya zama ɗan adam na kowa a Kwalejin Sarauniya, Oxford. Ya ɗauki digirinsa na BA a shekara ta 1598, wanda a lokacin an riga an shigar da shi karatun shari'a a Temple ta Tsakiya a London.[3] Ba da daɗewa ba ya sami tagomashi wurin Sir Robert Cecil, ya yi tafiya a Nahiyar, kuma ya fara jin daɗin suna don cikakkiyar tunani da ɗabi'a na 'yanci[4].
