A ranar 20 ga Mayu 2018, Firayim Minista Abiy Ahmed ne ya kaddamar da babban ginin jami'ar.

Jami'ar Dembi Dolo ta sami izini daga Ma'aikatar Ilimi a shekarar 2015 kuma ta fara tsarin ilmantarwa a shekarar 2018. An kafa shi ne a karkashin Sanarwar No 650/2001 labarin 5 (1). Jami'ar tana cikin garin Dembidolo, kilomita 645 a yammacin Addis Ababa. Tana cikin yanki na hekta 135. [1] A ranar 20 ga Mayu 2018, Firayim Minista Abiy Ahmed ne ya kaddamar da ginin Jami'ar Dembidolo, wanda ya kunshi sassan 35 kuma ya sanya dalibai 1,500 a wannan shekarar ilimi.[2]

A halin yanzu, jami'ar tana tasowa a cikin ingancin bincike da koyarwa a kusa da dalibai 3,750 na digiri da digiri. Bugu da ƙari, jami'ar tana daukar ma'aikatan ilimi da na gudanarwa 772.
