An haifi Gumede a lardin Natal. Mahaifinta Simon Hulumeni Gumede kuma mahaifiyarta Zanele kaMagwaza-Msibi.[2] Ta yi karatun wasan kwaikwayo a Kwalejin wasan kwaikwayo ta Amurka da ke Los Angeles.[3]

A cikin shekarar 2013, Gumede ta dawo daga Amurka kuma ta sami rawar gani a matsayin Mandisa a cikin Generations, ɗayan wasan kwaikwayo mafi nasara a Afirka ta Kudu.[4][5]
