An haifi Manuh a watan Mayun 1952 a Kumasi a yankin Ashanti na kasar Ghana ga James Kwesi Manuh, wanda dan kwangilar abinci ne, da Madam Akosua Akyaa, a lokacin 'yar kasuwa a Ankaase, wani gari kusa da Kumasi.[1] Iliminta na farko ya fara ne a Makarantar Methodist ta Ankaase lokacin da ta zauna tare da kakarta.[1] Yayin da take aji daya, aka koma da ita makarantar Adum Presby, inda ta sake fara karatu na daya.[1] Ta fara aji daya a karo na uku lokacin da aka tura ta zuwa Kindergarten na Penworth.[1] Manuh ta ci gaba da karatun firamare a Jami’ar Kimiyya da Fasaha ta Kwame Nkrumah (KNUST) ita ma da ke Kumasi, daga nan ta shiga makarantar sakandaren ‘yan mata ta Wesley da ke Cape Coast, inda ta yi karatun sakandare.[1][5] Ta ci gaba da karatunta a Jami’ar Ghana, inda ta samu digiri na farko a fannin shari’a (LLB) a shekarar 1974.[1][5] A shekarar 1978 aka ba ta digiri na biyu a fannin shari’a a Jami’ar Dar es Salaam.[1][5] Daga baya ta ci gaba da karatun digiri na uku a fannin Anthropology a Jami'ar Indiana Bloomington, ta kammala a shekara ta 2000.[1][5]

Bayan karatun digiri na biyu a Tanzaniya, Manuh ta sami aikin yi a matsayin mai bincike a Jami'ar Ghana a 1979.[1][5] Ta kuma koyar a makarantu da kwalejoji daban-daban a jami'ar.[5] Ta kasance farfesa mai ziyara a Jami'ar Indiana Bloomington, Abokiyar Ziyara a Jami'ar Birmingham, kuma ta ci gaba da aiki tare da Jami'ar Cape Town's African Gender Institute tun 1999.[5]
