An haife shi a ranar 1 ga watan Janairu 1981 a Alexandria, Masar. Ya sami digiri a fannin tarihi daga Jami'ar Suez Canal sannan ya sami digiri a fannin rubutun allo daga Babban Cibiyar Cinema na Cairo a shekarar 2009.[4][5]

A shekara ta 2008, ya yi aiki a matsayin mataimakin darakta na Rashid Masharawi.[6] Karkashin jagorancin Masharawi a shekara ta 2010, Saleh ya yi gajeriyar fim ɗin sa na farko Living Skin wanda aka fara gabatarwa a shekarar 2011. Fim ɗin ya sami yabo sosai kuma an nuna shi a yawancin bukukuwan fina-finai na duniya.

Tare da nasarar budurwa ta gajeren lokaci, sai ya yi fasalin budurwa mai suna Poisonous Roses a cikin shekarar 2018. Fim ɗin ya fara fitowa a duniya a bikin fina-finai na ƙasa da ƙasa na 47 na Rotterdam a sashin Bright Future.[4][7] Fim ɗin daga baya aka zaɓa a matsayin shigarwar Masar don Mafi kyawun Fim na Duniya a 92nd Academy Awards, amma ba a zaɓe shi ba.[8][9]

Ya kuma ba da gudummawa a matsayin mai sa kai a yawancin ƙungiyoyin kare haƙƙin ɗan adam a Masar.[4][10]
