Simard ta gano cewa "bishiyoyin fir suna amfani da yanar gizo fungal wajen siyar da abinci mai gina jiki tare da bishiyoyin a tsawon lokacin". Misali, nau'ikan bishiyoyi na iya baiwa juna rancen sugars yayin da rashi ke faruwa tsakanin canjin yanayi.
