Rakataura
Rakataura, wanda aka fi sani da Hape [1] ko Rakatāura, sanannen mai ba da hanya ne na Polynesia kuma kakan yawancin Māori iwi. An kuma haife shi a Hawaiki, Rakataura shine babban tohunga (firist / navigator) wanda ya jagoranci jirgin ruwa na <i id="mwFA">Tainui</i> zuwa New Zealand. Rakataura tana da alaƙa da labarun da suka shafi Manukau Harbour, Te Tō Waka (Ōtāhuhu Portage) da Waikato . A cikin al'adar baki ta Waiohua, Rakataura / Hape yana tafiya da sauri zuwa New Zealand, a gaban ma'aikatan Tainui. A cikin wannan sigar, an zaɓi Rakataura don wakiltar hapū a kan jirgin ruwa na Tainui, duk da haka wannan bai shahara ba saboda naƙasassu, kuma matasa da waɗanda ke da jiki da tunani ne kawai zasu iya tafiya. Rakataura ya yi tafiya a kudu zuwa tashar jiragen ruwa ta Whāingaroa (Raglan Harbour), ya kafa tūāhupapa (bagade mai tsarki) a kan dutsen Karioi, kuma ya ci gaba da raira waƙa don hana ma'aikatan Tainui gano wuraren da ya samu.[7] Rakataura ya yi tafiya zuwa kudu zuwa Tashar jiragen ruwa ta Kawhia, inda ya sadu da ma'aikatan Tainui, ya sulhunta (ko a nan ko kudu a Whareorino), kuma ya auri Kahukeke (ɗan Hoturoa), daga baya ya dawo ya zauna a Karioi. An yaba wa Rakataura da bincika cikin gandun daji na yankin Waikato tare da matarsa, suna kiran wurare bayan mambobin ma'aikatan Tainui, don kafa haƙƙin ƙasa.[7] Ya sanya duwatsun mauri daga Hawaiki tare da tafiya, a matsayin hanyar jan hankalin tsuntsaye zuwa wuraren da ya ziyarta.[9] A lokacin tafiyarsu, Kahukeke ta yi rashin lafiya a Wharepūhunga, inda Rakataura ta gina mata gida don hutawa da warkewa.[9] Kahukeke ya yi rashin lafiya a karo na biyu a Pureora, duk da haka bai tsira ba.[9] Bayan ta mutu, Rakataura ya sanya wa matarsa suna Kakepuku bayan siffar matarsa lokacin da take da ciki, da kuma yankin da ya zauna, Te Aroha, bayan ƙaunar da ya ji ga matarsa.[10] A can, ya sake yin aure, ga wata mace mai suna Hinemarino.[3]
