An kafa KNC ne a shekarar 1952 a matsayin hadakar jam'iyyu biyu masu fafutukar kafa kasar,wato Kamerun United National Congress da kuma Kamarun National Federation.[1]

Shugabannin jam'iyyar sun hada da EML Endeley,Salomon Tandeng Muna,John Ngu Foncha da Sampson George .Duk da haka, yayin da Endeley ya jagoranci jam’iyyar zuwa ga ra’ayin Najeriya,Foncha ya jagoranci wata kungiyar da ta balle ta kafa jam’iyyar Kamerun National Democratic Party (KNDP)a shekarar 1955.[2]Wani ballewar ya kai ga kafa jam’iyyar Kamerun People’s Party (KPP).[1]

Jam'iyyar KNC ta samu kashi 45% na kuri'un da aka kada a zaben 'yan majalisar dokoki na shekarar 1957, inda ta lashe kujeru shida daga cikin 13 kuma ta zama jam'iyya mafi girma a majalisar dokoki.[3]Zaben 1959 ya sa KNC ta shiga kawance da KPP.Kawancen ya samu kashi 37 cikin 100 na kuri'un da aka kada,inda ya samu kujeru 12 daga cikin 26 da jam'iyyar KNC ta samu takwas.[4]Sai dai jam'iyyar KNDP ta lashe zaben da kujeru 14.

KNC da KPP sun haɗu a 1960 don kafa taron jama'ar Kamaru.[2]
