English: "Poste française". The French Post Office in Malindi (Road), Zanzibar Stone Town. According to the map of Stone Town by Oscar Baumann of 1892, this post office ("Französ. Postamt") was located on the Zanzibar water front, which seems improbable looking at the picture. However, on modern maps of Zanzibar, Malindi Road runs close by. Baumann also locates a French consulate and an office of the "Messagerie Marit." away from the waterfront. |
