English: PROFILE OF SPEAKER, ABIA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY RT. HON. BARR. CHIKWENDU KALU (ISIALA NGWA SOUTH)
Hon. Barr. Chikwendu Kalu was born on the 15th day of December 1966 to the family of Mr. & Mrs. Nduaguibe Kalu of Umuala Village, Ngwaobi Autonomous Community in Isiala-Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State of Nigeria. He attended his primary education at Ugwuakulu Primary School, Ngwo, Enugu, Enugu State where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. Thereafter, he proceeded to St. Paul’s Secondary School, Enugu State where he obtained his West African School Certificate in the year 1983. In the year 1991, he was admitted into the Faculty of Law, University of Jos, Jos Plateau State. He studied from 1991 to 1997 wherein he was awarded the Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree in the year 1997. In the same year and in the same vein, Hon. Barr. Chikwendu Kalu proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, Abuja and in the year 1999, he graduated therein and obtained Barrister of Law (BL) degree and accordingly was called to the Nigerian Bar. Hon. Barr. Chikwendu Kalu is the Managing Solicitor of Chikwendu and Associates. He has maintained and managed this office as a private legal practitioner from the year 200 till date. While in private legal practice, he combined same with politics. For instance, he was the Legal Adviser of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for eight years. He was the Abia Central coordinator Contact and mobilization Committee. He was appointed the Abia Central Representative in the Abia State SURE-P Board in the year 2012. In the year 2015, Hon. Barr. Chikwendu Kalu, contested for the election into the House of Assembly under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party. Presently, he represents the good people of IsialaNgwa South State Constituency in Abia State House of Assembly. By December 30, 2016 and through the grace of the Almighty God, Rt. Hon. Barr. Chikwendu Kalu was elected Speaker of the 6thAbia State House of Assembly which position he occupies till date. Mr. Speaker is married to Mrs. Gloria Onyinye Chikwendu and the marriage is blessed with three boys and two girls. |
