Ezekiel Slocum, havebeen removed from the old Slocum plantation threemiles from Goldsborough and interred in the NationalPark at Moores Creek; and the Government has haderected a monument to the memory of Col. EzekielSlocum and Mary (Polly) Slocum. Hooks As shown in my book, Charles Hooks was marriedthree times. By his first wife, he had three sons, onenamed Charles A. Hooks, who I learn moved to Mobileand was in the drug business. He had two sons, Sam-uel and Charles A. F., and five daughters, Eliza, whomarried Edward Rew; Margaret, who married DavidHooks ; Laura, Mary and Cornelia. I knew the first twonamed—never knew the other three. Mary marriedThomas Mason, who had a daughter, Josephine, whomarried John F. Wiatt. She is still living with her son,Henry F. Wiatt, at Chickasaw, near Mobile.

Charles Molton Williams—Age, seven months. Two of Samuel Hooks daughters are living in Mo-bile, Miss Mamie, now 72 years of age, and Mrs. JohnR. Cowley, living at Toulminville, a suburb of Mobile. Charles A. F. Hooks is described as being less thanfive feet in height—broad shoulders and chest, verylarge head. He had two drug stores in Mobile, where hedied not many years ago. One of my friends in writing me about him, said hewas very fond of dancing—a great chess and checkerplayer, belonged to the voluntary fire department be-fore there were any paid departments, and was a mem-ber of the Cleburne Rifles. A few weeks ago, I received notice that Peter ForneyChapter D. A. R., of Montgomery, would at an earlydate place a bronze tablet on the grave of Col. CharlesHooks in the Molton family burying grounds on LaurelHill, now Elmore County, Alabama, and wanted me tobe present but I could not go.
