Bakar shayi (kuma a zahiri an fassara shi azaman jan shayi daga harsuna daban-daban na Gabashin Asiya) wani nau'in shayi ne wanda ya fi tsami fiye da Oolong, rawaya, fari, da koren shayi. Bakar shayi yana da ƙarfi da dandano fiye da sauran shayi.

Ana amfani da manyan nau'ikan guda biyu - ƙananan shuke-shuke na kasar Sin (C. Sinensis  var.C. sinensis ), wanda aka yi amfani da shi don yawancin sauran nau'ikan shayi, da kuma babban shuke-shuke na Assamese (C. senensis var. assamica), wanda aka saba amfani dashi don shayi baƙar fata, kodayake a cikin 'yan shekarun nan an samar da wasu shayi masu kore da fari.
